Clagg
Submitted by Rickie-lee on Mon, 29/10/2007 - 17:38."Clagg emerged from a haze of smoke and feedback in late 2002, a conglomeration of chunky riffs, crippling low end and hate-ridden vocals. Ozz, Vman, Tom, Ash and Ben combined an appreciation for the ugly side of rock to create a punishing audio environment. A slow, devastating and crushingly loud sound had been born through influence from Black Sabbath, Iron Monkey, Electric Wizard, Eyehategod and any other music heavy and fucked-up enough to please the members of Clagg." Orange Goblin
Submitted by Rickie-lee on Mon, 29/10/2007 - 17:35.“It has to be said that Orange Goblin shows are very predictable, in the sense that you know they are going to be brilliant before they even hit the stage!” – Terry Beezer (Kerrang!, January 2007)

Inspiring
Double Bass Players in Australia since 1990
Bassworks
has been promoting concerts and organising double bass workshops
in Australia since 1990. Gary Karr, Nicholas Walker, François
Rabbath and George Vance are some of the international bassists
that Bass Works have been associated with for concerts and
workshops.
Bass
Works Australia also sell instruments, sheet music and accessories.
The double bass products in this catalogue are there because
they work. They are used, tested and recommended by double
bass players/teachers. Instruments are prepared in our workshop
by craftsmen who understand how a bass should be set up for
easy playability for children and adults. The profits from
sales also contribute towards promoting events for the training
of young bass players.
Miroslav Vitous
Submitted by Suzann Morgan on Sat, 27/10/2007 - 09:15.
Welcome to the official Miroslav Vitous site. You can explore various aspects of the great
bassist's life and career, explore his albums and sound collections and view his concert schedule.
Many gifted musicians start playing at an early age, and Vitous began playing the violin at the age
of six. He subsequently played the piano at age 10, before settling on the bass at 14. He studied
under F. Posta at the Prague Conservatory in Czechoslovakia. The history
of the conservatory is fascinating, with noteables such as Antonín Dvorák serving as their director. The
conservatory has a very disciplined program requiring all students to study for 6 years and pass stringent exams.
During this time he played in a trio with his brother Alan, and Jan Hammer. After winning a scholarship to the
Berklee College of Music in Boston, he came to the U.S. A year later in 1966, Miroslav moved to New York &
collaborated with musicians such as Bob Brookmeyer, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Art Farmer, Stan Getz, Charlie Mariano, and
Herbie Mann.
In 1970, the group Weather Report was formed along with Wayne Shorter and Joe Zawinul. Three
years later, he formed the Miroslav Vitous Group along with John Surman, Kenny Kirkland and Jon Christensen.
In 1979, Vitous became the director of the Jazz Department at the New England Conservatory in Boston. We will
explore more of his teaching experience under the educator section.
