Jarrod is a recent graduate of the prestigious 3 year bachelor of film degree at the Victorian College of the Arts School of Film and Television. As part of his final year, Jarrod just completed a 15 minute short film 'Insignia'. The photo above is Jarrod obnoxiously posing with his Best Sound Design Award, recently presented to him at St Kilda Film Festival for his work on Lily Coate's The Cat And Claudia. In 2005, Jarrod took leave from VCA to complete his Bachelor of Creative Arts at Melbourne University. During this time he created Virtual Spaces, a multimedia installation utilising video, surround sound and automated lighting. Jarrod was a guest at the Fresh Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic for the screening of his films Holding On, and A Short Portrait of Obsession. Holding On was also screened at the Trenton Film Festival and Method Fest in the USA, and St Kilda Film Festival in Melbourne. During 2005 Jarrod worked on two VCA Graduating productions, designing the opening title sequence for Sasha Whitehouse's The City Eats Its Weak, and the Sound Design for Lily Coates' The Cat And Claudia. Earlier this year Jarrod was Editor on Invisible, which recently came second at In Realm of the Senses. Just for a laugh, Jarrod created Cinema Verite - a 'micro movie' (a short film shot on a mobile phone) which screened at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival. In 2004 A Short Portrait of Zora Zakowski screened at the St Kilda Film Festival, Over The Fence Comedy Film Festival, and was a finalist in the Student Film & Video Competition. Inversion has screened at Revolver & Gertrudes as part of In The Realm of the Senses, as well as at Fresh Film Festival in Karlovy Vary. Before studying at VCA, Jarrod has been involved in acting, writing and directing for theatre, as well as lighting design, sound design and composing music for film. Jarrod writes and performs all the music for his films, and is skilled in 3D graphics, title design and DVD authoring. In 2000 Jarrod established The Factor Cinema Files, a website devoted to the understanding of cinema technology, which also reviews Melbourne cinemas for audio-visual performance. Back in another lifetime, Jarrod was a child actor, appearing in the MTC productions of Grapes of Wrath and Assassins, as well as The Bell Shakespeare Company's 1994 production of Richard III and the telemovie The Feds: Abduction.
