I never paid much attention to Aussie Rules Football. I played it a bit at school and wasn't bad at it, but I never really got into it. However, I was raised in Geelong and that brought with it a certain sense of being part of a Victorian under-class that could transgress its status through (then VFL) by Geelong beating other richer and seemingly more prestigous clubs such as Hawthorne, Melbourne etc. Anywaz I was happy to listen to the radio over the Internet today to hear Geelong beat Melbourne 104pts to 42pts. Go the cats. Next target Sydney. I reserve the right to enjoy the finals season while Geelong are in it. Who knows they might win the premiership for the first time in 35 odd years.
