25th Feb 2005

I handed in my visa application today at 3:55pm. The Japanese Consulate closes at 4pm. Phew. It only takes 5 days for them to process. Now that's efficiency. They make the Germans seem like dole bludgers!

I had a prettey busy day all round. No time for programming at all. Oh well. I got some really cool news too. I have been preselected for an exhibition at the VCA Gallery for the Keith and Elizabeth Murdoch Travelling Fellowship. That means there is a small chance I could win $20, 000 dollars, which I can use in Japan to make art instead of teaching english. It will be decided some time around early April. I will have to have the work ready to go before I leave and have someone drop it off. Any volenteers?

It is weird. Two shows almost a month apart at the VCA just fall into my lap and I am not even a student their anymore. It is great. I loved my time at the VCA and I am glad that it is not over. I mourned a little at the start of this year. Grief at the thought of not being there. At least these shows give me some bridge to the community and resource of the place. I can't wait for these shows.

I went to Damien Whites sisters engagement party tonight as well. I caught up with Julian and Mike, who I studied with last year. Julian in sculpture and Mike did/does music. Cool guys. Well it is 1 am so I had better go and start doing some programming before sun up. Goodnight.
