Community Partnerships

FELLOWSHIP
Fellowships provide financial support for two years to an artist or arts worker
with a solid record of achievement in community arts and culture,
including community cultural development.

 

CATEGORY B
Category B provides funding up to $20,000 per grant, for one-off community arts
and culture projects which may have a public outcome and must involve a
range of partners.

 

CATEGORY C
Category C provides grants of $20,000-$35,000 in support of one-off community
arts and culture projects which have a public outcome and involve
cross-sectoral partners.

 

ROS BOWER AWARD
This award recognises distinguished effort in fostering and furthering the
philosophies and principles espoused by Rosalie (Ros) Bower, founding
director of the former Community Arts Board of the Australia Council.

 

AWARD
Young Leaders / Kirk Robson Awards -
The Young Leaders Award in community arts and culture, including community
cultural development, acknowledges that true leadership is based on the
values of inclusiveness, consensus, and self-determination. The Kirk
Robson Award recognises the outstanding leadership in community
cultural development, particularly in the areas of reconciliation and
social justice, demonstrated by the young artist, who died in 2005.

 

CATEGORY A
Category A provides seed funding of up to $5,000 per grant to assist artists,
groups or organisations to develop significant project ideas or build
effective partnerships that enable future projects to take place.

 

CAMDEN HEAD PILOT STATION RESIDENCY
The Community Partnerships section of the Australia Council is seeking applications for the: 2008 Camden Head Pilot Station Artist Residency Program from community arts and culture practitioners across the country.

 

Dance

CITé INTERNATIONALE DES ARTS RESIDENCY
The Dance Board is offering an established dance practitioner the
opportunity to undertake a period of professional development at the
Australia Council’s studio at the Cité Internationale des Arts in
Paris, France.

 

YOUNG AND EMERGING ARTISTS
The Dance Board invites applicants aged up to and including 30 years with
no more than five years’ professional experience to make applications
in three categories: New Work, Skills Development and Artform
Development.

 

FELLOWSHIP
Fellowship grants provide two years of financial support to artists with a record
of outstanding achievement in dance so they can undertake a program of
creative work or professional development.

 

NEW WORK
New Work grants support the creation of new dance works, encouraging
artists to take time to develop a work and to proceed to each stage of
its life cycle following a critical analysis of what has been
accomplished. The number and nature of the stages in a work’s life
cycle varies from project to project.

 

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT
Skills Development grants foster excellence in dance by providing professional
development opportunities to individual dance practitioners in
Australia.

 

ARTFORM DEVELOPMENT
Proposals for Artform Development grants may be for activities that contribute to
the overall development of dance in Australia.

 

ABC DANCE 4 FILM
ABC Dance 4 Film is a major new broadcast partnership between the Australia
Council for the Arts, ABC Television, Channel 4 and the Arts Council
England for the screening of dance films on the ABC and Channel 4 in
the UK.

 

Inter-Arts

FELLOWSHIP
This Fellowship is offered to artists working in interdisciplinary art,
hybrid art or new artistic practice to further enhance their capacity
to provide leadership to the field.

 

INTER-ARTS PROJECTS
The purpose of this category is to support artists exploring interdisciplinary art, hybrid art and new artistic practice.

 

SECOND LIFE ARTIST RESIDENCY
The Australia Council for the Arts is offering up to $20,000 for a
collaborative artist residency in the virtual world of Second Life.

 

RUN_WAY
RUN_WAY is a program designed to extend and enliven your experience and
understanding of interdisciplinary arts and new artistic practice. The
initiative is for young and emerging artists and artsworkers 30 years
of age and under.

 

INTER-ARTS RESIDENCIES
The Inter-Arts Office offers grants for artist-initiated residencies as
well as one residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada.

 

Literature

SKILLS AND ARTS DEVELOPMENT
Skills and Arts Development grants foster excellence in writing by providing
individual writers with a supportive environment for professional
development, research and creative risk-taking. Support is available to
individual writers and picture book illustrators through residencies
and studios in Australia and overseas.

 

NEW WORK
New Work grants assist in the creation of new work by emerging, developing
and established Australian writers and picture book illustrators.

 

FELLOWSHIP
Fellowship grants support excellence in Australian literature by providing highly
accomplished literary writers with financial support for two years to
enable them to create new work.

 

WRITERS' EMERITUS AWARD
The Writers’ Emeritus Award acknowledges the achievements of eminent
literary writers over the age of 65 who have made outstanding and
lifelong contributions to Australian literature.

 

INITIATIVE
Write in Your Face is a program of support to young writers, funded under the Australian government’s Young and Emerging Artists’ Initiative.

 

Music

SKILLS AND ARTS DEVELOPMENT MEDIA ARTS RESIDENCY
ABC National Radiophonic Residency
This is a six-month residency for media artists with ABC Radio
National in Sydney to commence in April 2008. Part of the residency may
take place in ABC studios in other states or territories.

 

PROJECT FELLOWSHIP
Project Fellowship grants are offered to artists for significant creative and
developmental projects that will benefit their artistic development. Up
to three Project Fellowships may be awarded in 2007.

 

FELLOWSHIP
Fellowship grants provide artists with financial support for two years for creative work and/or professional development.

 

DON BANKS MUSIC AWARD
The purpose of the Don Banks Music Award is to honour a senior artist of
high distinction who has made an outstanding and sustained contribution
to music in Australia over a long period of time.

 

BUZZ
In 2007, the Foundation for Young Australians will adminster Buzz - a
small grants program for young artists - on behalf of the Australia
Council.

 

SKILLS AND ARTS DEVELOPMENT
Skills and Arts Development grants support skills development for professional
artists and artsworkers, and programs and services of organisations
that contribute to the development of music practice in Australia.

 

NEW WORK
This category supports one-off projects that involve the creation or
development of new musical material or music and media arts projects.

 

PRESENTATION AND PROMOTION
Presentation and Promotion grants support one-off projects that present, publish,
distribute and/or market quality music of any style.

 

INTERNATIONAL MARKET DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
International Pathways aims to assist with strategic international artistic and market development activities by Australian musicians.

 

New Media

INITIATIVE
ArtLab - The Inter-Arts Office of the Australia Council for the Arts through a
new ArtLab program is offering grants of up to $75,000 for new
collaborations between artists to engage in a significant period of
interdisciplinary research and creative development.

 

Theatre

 

CITé INTERNATIONALE DES ARTS RESIDENCY
The Theatre Board seeks applications for a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts.

two-year program of creative work and/or professional development that
extends their practice and develops their career. It is for artists
with a record of outstanding achievement.

New Work grants support one-off projects that result in the creation of new
theatre work. This can include a new production of an established text.

 

SKILLS AND ARTS DEVELOPMENT
Skills and Arts Development grants support activities that provide
professional development opportunities to individual theatre workers or
that contribute to the overall development of the artform in Australia.

 

INITIATIVE
Flying Start provides professional development grants for new artistic directors and general managers

 

Visual Arts

NEW WORK
New Work grants support the creation of new work by emerging and
established craftspeople, designers, media artists, visual artists and
arts writers.

 

FELLOWSHIP
Fellowship grants provide extended support to craftspeople, designers, media
artists, visual artists and arts writers of outstanding ability to
enable them to realise ambitious projects and develop their practice to
new levels of achievement.

 

PRESENTATION AND PROMOTION
Presentation and Promotion grants assist arts organisations to present and promote
contemporary Australian craft, design, media art and visual arts to
audiences in Australia and overseas.

 

SKILLS AND ARTS DEVELOPMENT
Skills and Arts Development grants promote excellence in the arts by providing
professional development opportunities for craftspeople, designers,
media artists, visual artists, arts writers and curators.

 

VISUAL ARTS EMERITUS AWARD
The Visual Arts Emeritus Award and Visual Arts Emeritus Medal honour the achievements of artists and arts workers.

 

MAKER TO MANUFACTURER TO MARKET
The Visual Arts Board of the Australia Council is seeking applications for the MMM - Maker to Manufacturer to Market initiative.
