online art/culture publication 80-ps
To everyone,
I'm looking for people interested in submitting images/reviews/explanations/though experiments/futrology/survival guides/cartoons/fiction/anarchy/sound pieces/ youtube links to a zine called 80-ps
the loose angle is that art produces reality so there is a leaning towards the irrational, the visonary, the filmic, the humerous and the paranormal,
it will be visually impressive, intellectually rigarous, willing to take things too far
i'm looking to start this thing small and grow it one step at a time, i also need organisational help...

Technical Support and Writing for 80-PS Online Publication
Hey Matt,
I am happy to do some technical support for the online publication /website and I have had a couple of ideas for writing/ images.
Writing Subject Ideas (based on my current obsession with YouTube and LiveVideo):
1. Video Installation Online
2. Reviews of YouTube Videos
3. Inter-Activism
Have you got a deadline set for the first issue yet? Or is it still too early for such stressful things? :)
Honing in on the content
This project sounds pretty cool. I love the way artists are using potentially tacky websites like YouTube and MySpace to activate thought and integrate artistic ventures into everyday net-surfing. That is why I like Alex's idea about YouTube reviews etc.
I do have a few questions though...
- What format will it take on? Website or downloaded pdf etc?
- How often will it be updated/published?
- Are you going to set a theme for each issue or let that come organically? This in turn poses questions of including regular columns or having each issue completely original.
These questions may be too early, but I think it is worth looking at what you would like the first issue to look like, and how you would like that to progress by the 3rd, 5th or 10th issue, especially depending how often they will be published.

Hmm, that's quite a comment title... Anyway, I was going to say that my brains have been sucked out my bum by phd writing and 4 month old twin boys, but someday I'll have some ideas, and then I'll post them. In the mean time, I think the idea is great and am keen to see how it develops...

Format wise i have loosely come to the conclusion that it would be website format so there could be comments, updated and published when material comes in, but hopefully as much as possible or say once a month. No theme, an organic body.
The big question at the moment is will there be enough people interested enough to put the effort into writing or sending in images etc.
I think there will, soon i may send a press release type thing and one of the flyers to as many people as i can.

Visualization Experiment
Here is a visualization experiment I'm am going to be doing for the next few weeks. I follow these following steps and will make an archive of my results. Maybe others could submit their results:
1: Make sure you have plenty of time, and an utterly silent, and comfortable space.
2: Relax. Close your eyes. Meditate, clear your head, and whatnot.
3: Visualize a door.
4: Open it. Step inside if you can.
5: Give a description of the events that happened. Describe the door, any emotions, whether you were able to open the door or not, and what happened once you did.
Note: I had a bad experience when I tried this about a year ago and I'm nervous about doing it again. But it is an interesting experiment.
