After looking at the WE believe in other possible worlds page, feel free to discuss the project with the artists; Veronica Kent and Sean Peoples.

Great Video

Submitted by Alex Gibson on Sat, 14/10/2006 - 23:00.

I love the video, pity about the sound - but I understood most of it. I feel I understand what you guys are trying to do much better now. Before I wasn't sure were the visual art was (cause I hadn't seen the work) - it seemed to lean towards performance or something - which isn't so bad in itself, its just that it was being presented as visual art.

Anyhoo, I think it is a really interesting project. For me, one of the most facinating things is the blurring of identity. You guys are blurring the traditional role of the singular artist, as well as the psychological identity of singular consciouness. This crossover or double emphasise on collaboration and shared consiousness is quite bold... and interesting. It seems no wonder that you work in the realm of myspace, youtube, and polyopticon - these technologies can be positioned to work in a similar way.

What do you guys think about the idea that conciousness is shared, rather than communicated via language? Does telepathy allude to collective consiouness? How does this impact society.

What is the role of the audience in your telepathic work? Can they be telepathic too or is it a discipline that must be learned with practice?

I want to be telepathic! :)

Sorry if these questions suck - I am finishing my honours paper (its due next friday) so I am in that kind of headspace.

conciousness and language

"What do you guys think about the idea that consciousness is shared, rather than communicated via language?"

I feel that consciousness and language might be intimately linked.

didn't Nietzsche suggested that consciousness was a husk (for unconscious processes) and Freud suggested it was a callus.

As to becoming telepathic

please join in!

I think Telepathy just takes practice (Perhaps a  practice of suspension of dis-belief?).

ps

Im loving the space you have created here.

I suspect

I suspect some forms of telepathy are quite real and ordinary. And yet others are really complicated, and maybe really a performance of something else (some kind of ritualised empathy).

As for conciousness being a husk or a callus - great ideas. I love references to stuff like that.

re: the site
Thanks. Let me know how I can make it better for you and your projects Veronica. Also if you ever have a show coming up or know someone with a show - we can promote it here too.
