Pathetic Head

Let me know what you think of him. I have many more sophisticated bots, but have not yet found the time to make them into online CGI.

But I intend to do that with some of the better ones soon. Stay tuned for online XXXbot (a porn-style AI), Bolthead, (a political satire of the right-wing columnist Andrew Bolt) and Adornobot (and interactive text based on Theodore Adorno's 'Minma Moralia'.

online chatbot wizard

Submitted by Alex Gibson on Wed, 12/07/2006 - 13:19.

Well, imagine an online tool that is formatted like a table. Across the rows would be two categories: 'input' and 'reply(ies)'. The input category would be a single text input box and reply would be a single text input box with the option of adding more text input boxes so that each 'input' catagory could have multiple 'reply(ies)'.

Now their would also be some information about reguular expressions formatting somewhere and a button at the bottom that is labeled 'compile'

When an online user jumps on this page, they would see some introductry text about creating their own chatbot, how it could be a representation of them, of a friend, a lover, family memeber, someone from history. They would then have options for naming the bot.

Then they would fill in all the potential inputs and replies into the fields. Their would be a save function somewhere so that they could work on it for days, months, years... But when they want to create the bot they just hit 'compile' and a new webpage is created that forms the chatbot as an interactive thing.

Once I had this alpha running, I could think about how to further develop the chatbot creating wizard to include learning, short and long term memory, a general knowledge base and various NLP tools.

Polyoptibot

I am thinking about how I could have a chatbot built into this site. Perhaps in the bloack bar on the righthand side or something. I would also need a personality and a script of sorts. Perhaps some of the film and theatre people on the site could help with that...

What What What?

Im happy to help - but what is it? What's the personality and script? Is the personality 'the look' of it? Perhaps we could call it "Poly wants a chatter". (Just a thought) (Smirk). Polychat, anyone?

Yeah, names are a good way into the idea. I would appreciate it if you (and others) collaborate on the responses of the artificial intelligence. Its an intersting thing the way AI and script share so much space.

Are you sure my writing the script is a good idea?!

User: Hi there.

Polychat: Hello Sailor.

User: Is this working?

Polychat: Take your clothes off and I'll check...

User: What?

Polychat: Shut up. You're too fat to chat.

I've got it!

Polly! A person, but also many. A human monicker for an artifical intelligence. Being an old english kindof name, it vaguely implies a sense of subservience "Polly, put the kettle on!"

See, thats got personality. You're a natural.

(how can I be too fat top chat?)

Well, when we have time - after the Film - Goodnight Thomas project, lets make an AI chatbot. I will design it so we (the collborators) can train and review its responses online. It will be passworded so that only the collborators can work on it ( I might make a public one too) and we can spend our time forming consesus on the character of the AI and inputting that character into speech forms.

I have started a new topic to get down some initial ideas baout the project. It will be a while before we can dedicate any real time to it, but for now at least we have somehwere to throw some ideas around.
