ideas for performance
I am thinking about writing a monlogue that does not prescribe spoken text but rather outlines a series of interactions and tasks for the performing body to complete. These will express some of the potential forms of the digital media and live body ineractions as well as further the concepts of disembodiment, surveillance and captivity.
I would like to include references to other senseless monologues and also think about how the audience can participate in the interaction.
interaction
I want their to be some mechanism or system in place that allows for the audience to in some way affect the performance.
disembodiment
The actors image would be processed through a computer and projected onto the performance space so that the actors performance is not centred within her body.
surveillance
Panopticon, polyopticon, scanning, tracing, mapping, recording, controlling, prohibiting, inhibiting, forbiding, reducing
captivity
The performance body is restricted. Captive within the space. The audience likewise is controlled and prevented. Light and sound could help this.
I want my inclusion to be experiential and performance based rather than theatrical and narrative based.

Hey Alex,
I like these ideas alot and your take on approach to the performance... I will also try to keep these things in mind and read the performance from this perspective in development along with the narrative and script ideas that are coming form the others. Lets keep this dialogue up significantly through the rehearsal process.

Ideas for Performance
The ideas related to the staging of the performance are at present up in the air, floating in my mind and in cyberspace between myself, Rochelle, Jacob and Mary Lou at 45 Downstairs (because of space restrictions). Any further input or suggestions related to this would be much appreciated but I feel shouldn’t actually be locked down until a) the writing process is finished and we see where the text might take us, b) until we have played a bit in the rehearsal room, c) we know our budget, d) we clarify the technical and spatial restrictions and e) should also be kept up our sleeves for the Production, especially as the main point of the showing this year is to test the format of delivering scripts in a random order.
So, with all this in mind these are some of the ideas that I have had for the showing. I have relating to the headings you have suggested.
Interactivity: I have been thinking about how audience interactivity will work for us, in that it will give us a great opportunity to build compassion toward the characters. For example if particular members of the audience are given ‘chips’ upon entering the space, possibly with a photo of the writer/character and a brief blub. These members will randomly insert the chip into Mitnick and this is how the stories will unfold. It would allow for the audience to feel a connection to the characters before the show even begins. Obviously it’s an under developed idea, so we’ll see where it takes us…
Also, we had thrown around the idea of projected story/mind maps that allow the audience and Mitnick to decide the stories by clicking, touching or referring to the story of their choice…
Disembodiment and Surveillance: I had thought of some of the monologues being videoed and projected but there are certain space restrictions with the showing, so again we’ll see. Rohan suggested Mitnick videoing herself or using photography live in the space. Great ideas, I guess we just have to see if they add to the showing or if they are best left for the production. Time, space and resource limits may decide this one…
Captivity: This is a great one, especially as I am quite keen on the audience sitting in the round with Mitnick in the centre. This would create that sense of captivity for both audience and performer, as you suggested. Also, it would not interfere or illuminate the exhibition which will be displayed on the walls during the developmental showing season at 45 Downstairs.
As I said, it’s great to throw ideas around, so keep it up!

My Script Idea
I guess the subject heading 'performance ideas' was a little confusing - I am not suggesting general ideas for the whole performance, but rather outlining my ideas to create a conceptual script that is not prescriptive, theatrical or narrative based. If some of my ideas are used generally or in other scripts that, of course, is fine. But I am trying to create a specific set of ideas to relate to a particular script concept. That is to set out a task for a performance that expresses something about a particular aspect of senseless, but is not based within a character or storyline. My idea will still rely on the world of the project and should form a kind of depth to the ideas on a macro scale.
I am not a writer
I am not a writer - although I have tried, I have decided that I should add my strengths to the project and not my weakness'. For this reason (and time constraints) I have adecided that my time is better spent creating images for the preproduction and production of the script and show - and to think about how post-production ideas can be realised so that we may have a finished result online after the performance.
I will continue to use this thead/forum to dicuss these ideas and to put forward image, script, performance and postproduction concepts and speculations.
I have been depressed and
I have been depressed and low in energy due to some personal problem, but after reading your article today, I suddenly felt a boost within me and guess what there was a sudden change in my behavior, that’s because your article gave me the best solution for solving the problems in my life. Thanks!!!
This is a great inspiring article.I am pretty much pleased with your good work. You put really very helpful information. Keep it up. Keep blogging. Looking to reading your next post. Thanks.
Hrmm that was weird, my comment got eaten. Anyway I wanted to say that it's nice to know that someone else also mentioned this as I had trouble finding the same info elsewhere. This was the first place that told me the answer. Thanks.
To be honest, I even could not imagine how hard it is to find decent piece of info on the above topic. It took me a couple of hours before I came across your site. No doubt, it is the best freely available source! Thanks for it!
Definitely believe that which you stated. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the internet the easiest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get annoyed while people consider worries that they just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side effect , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks

I have found a lot of useful
I have found a lot of useful information from this platform. I must say that sharing your thoughts with one another is an easy way to relax yourself in the daily hectic routines. Each time a description of the change, there are always lots of talk about it anywhere. These are not exempt. I mean one must be up to date with the day to day change in the environment and in the technology as well. In my personal opinion, the world is turning into a global village and now you can get a lot of required information by just a click while sitting where ever you are.
