Finally, and on a similar tack to the ideas listed above, another possibility would be a ‘gossip engine’. Most of the time, people are not so much thinking for themselves as trading opinions. The bot could solicit opinions from users on a range of topics relating to current and past projects (by way of conversation). Most simplistically it could ask:
‘Did you see X project?’
‘Did you think it was a success or not?
‘Why do you think that?’
Using it’s gossip database, the bot would then be able to build up a picture about what the majority of users feelings were on a particular project or event and then present these results to whoever inquired. This database could also be fuelled by data gathered from active crawling for feedback on Polyopticon websites….
